Stretch marks or striae
are a common problem for most of the people especially women after
giving birth. Not only have they often shied away from their
out-of-shape body, the unsightly stretch marks refrain them from
wearing bikini again!
Epidermal and dermal
layers are intact and in continuity in normal skin. Unfortunately, a
sudden rapid growth or weight gain that overstretches the skin layers
making the skin has no time to adapt for the change. Subsequently the
affected area loses its resilience followed by a breakage within it.
The area will then appear to be empty and soft to touch. Besides,
hormone plays its part too. Glucocorticoid hormone which prevents the
fibroblasts from laying down the collagen and elastin fibers is
responsible for stretch marks development in most of the cases of
pregnancy and some systemic disorders.
Stretch marks can
appear as white, purple or brown color in anywhere on body especially
those areas where large amount of fat can be found namely abdomen,
inner and outer thighs, buttock, arms and breasts.
There are several
treatment options available for stretch marks. Fractional erbium
glass laser is one of them. After several times of the stretch marks
being zapped by the laser, microscopic wounds start to appear and our
body responds to it by creating more collagen and new epithelium.
Other than that, PRP and mesotherapy will also help in this case
where growth factors are carefully embedded into the area that will
then gradually do its wonders by promoting the formation of new firm
skin.
Needless to say, the combination of several treatment options
is always better than one. The outcome depends on the severity of the
problem and frequency of the treatment session. Can’t wait to
flaunt your new skin? Take a chance and start making difference
